South Florida & the Florida Keys Spiritual Retreat

Join Extraordinary News for a four-day spiritual retreat in South Florida and the Florida Keys, January 28–31, 2027. We plan to gather for prayer, Scripture, fellowship, a 4-Day Gluten-Free, Organic, Vegan, KOSHER FAST, and teaching on how food choices can affect physical well-being and spiritual discipline. Water baptism is planned for Saturday, January 30, at Bahia Honda, subject to flight and hotel costs, travel availability, weather, and safe water conditions. No detailed itinerary has been set.

Baptism in Jesus’ name

John the Baptist preached repentance to prepare people for Jesus’ first coming. Baptism in Jesus’ name is a voluntary declaration of faith in Jesus Christ, repentance, and a commitment to follow Him. It symbolizes cleansing and a new life in Christ; it does not require membership in any denomination.

We welcome people from every background, including Jewish and Muslim guests, whether they are seeking baptism or simply wish to attend in support. Baptism itself expresses faith in Jesus and is never performed without informed consent.

Biblical references: Acts 2:38 (repentance and baptism), Romans 6:3–5 (new life in Christ), and 1 Peter 3:21 (the appeal of a good conscience).

Planning status: The January 28–31 retreat and proposed January 30 water baptism depend on flight and hotel costs, travel availability, weather and safe conditions. Requesting information is not a reservation; please do not make non-refundable plans from this announcement alone.

FOUR DAYS OF CONSECRATION · JANUARY 28–31, 2027

4-Day Gluten-Free, Organic, Vegan, KOSHER FAST

As part of the Extraordinary News Spiritual Retreat, we will practice a four-day whole-food, plant-based fast: fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds and other suitable plant foods, with simple nourishing meals rather than abstaining from all food. We will also devote time to prayer, Scripture, worship, movement, and fellowship.

From Eden to Noah to Daniel — the Hebrew Scriptures and NIV

1 · In the beginning

God provided the garden for Adam and Eve

Genesis 1:29 · Bereshit (בראשית), Torah — NIV. In the beginning, God provided seed-bearing plants and fruit-bearing trees as food for humanity. God placed Adam in the garden and permitted him to eat from its trees, with one specific prohibition (Genesis 2:16–17). The first food provision described in the creation account was plant-based.

Genesis 1:29 (NIV), excerpt: “They will be yours for food.”

2 · After the flood

God permitted Noah and his family to eat animals

Genesis 9:3–4 · Bereshit (בראשית), Torah — NIV. Following the flood, God told Noah that living creatures could also be food, as plants had been. He prohibited eating flesh with its lifeblood. Later instructions in the Torah distinguish clean and unclean animals (Leviticus 11). The Bible does not describe animal food as universally forbidden after the flood.

Genesis 9:3 (NIV), excerpt: “Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you.”

3 · Daniel's faithful example

Daniel chose vegetables and water

Daniel 1:8–16 · Sefer Daniel (ספר דניאל), Ketuvim — NIV. In Babylon, Daniel declined the king’s food and wine because he did not wish to defile himself. Daniel requested a ten-day trial of vegetables and water for himself and his companions. At the end, they appeared healthier and better nourished, so they continued receiving vegetables. Daniel made this request; the passage does not report God commanding him to eat only plants.

Daniel 1:12 (NIV), excerpt: “Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink.”

Daniel 10:2–3 also describes a separate period of three weeks when Daniel avoided choice food, meat, and wine. Modern Christian practices often use the name “Daniel Fast” for a temporary period of simple foods, prayer, and consecration inspired by these accounts. The Bible does not prescribe one universal menu or duration for that modern practice.

Our four-day fast is a voluntary time of prayer, Scripture, self-discipline, and learning to care for the body. We will explore how nourishing food affects digestion and energy, while distinguishing physical research from the spiritual purpose of fasting. Organic, gluten-free, and kosher preparation will be confirmed with food providers before making guarantees. Accommodations may be requested; no one needs to fast to attend or seek baptism.
